How to Identify and Leverage Your Top 5 CliftonStrengths in the Workplace

May 19, 2025 · Rethinkery

A practical guide to spotting your top five strengths in real work, and stopping the energy drain of leading from your weakest themes.

Most people who take the CliftonStrengths assessment read the report once, nod, and never use it. The themes feel abstract until they get applied to actual work, meetings you're in, decisions you're making, relationships you're maintaining.

The shift happens when you start tagging your week. Where in the past five days did you feel energised? Where did you feel depleted? Tag each one against a theme. Patterns emerge fast.

Once the patterns are visible, the leverage move is to weight your week toward strength themes and consciously hand off, or partner around, the work that drains you. Leaders who do this don't become rounder. They become sharper, and surrounded by people whose strengths complement theirs.
