Bespoke vs Off-the-Shelf — How to Choose
Three formats. One judgment call.
Not every workshop should be customized. Not every customized workshop justifies the cost. Knowing which format fits the work is the first decision — and it's worth making honestly.
Off-the-shelf
Best when the topic is well-defined, the team is reasonably aligned on the need, and the goal is to introduce shared language, frameworks, or skills. Lower cost, shorter timelines, and consistent quality across cohorts.
Examples: Coaching Skills for Leaders, Difficult Conversations, Psychological Safety.
Custom
Best when the operating tensions are specific to your organization, when the team's resistance to a generic version is high, or when the workshop is part of a broader change initiative.
Custom workshops start with a needs analysis and are co-designed with your people leaders. The investment is higher; so is the adoption.
Problem-solving sessions
Best when the team has a specific decision, transition, or strategy question and needs a structured space to work it through. Less workshop, more facilitated decision lab.
Often paired with executive offsites or used between intensive coaching blocks.
